Dear Francisco

I have searched for roundtrip economy class (cheapest class available) flights from Cyprus departing on the 11th of November to Ljubliana and returning on the 13th of November, and found out that it will cost approximately 690 euro. Is that acceptable? Cheaper flights exist, but, booking them means I will be traveling for 20 hours or so, and returning to Cyprus around noon time on the 14th of November.

I know its complicated, but, please advise. I attach some screenshots.

Dear Panayiotis,

When other options are not available (low cost airlines) it is permitted by COST to reimburse up to 1200 for a flight ticket if justified

In your case it seems clear that the option chosen is reasonable in terms of price and schedule.

No problem then.

Thanks for sharing your query!

Dear Francisco,

sorry to bother you again...

does an 'economy flexi' flight ticket count as 'econony class'? Unfortunately these are the only seats I can find...

All the best,

Panayiotis

Dear Panayiotis,

According to COST rules the most economical fare has to be chosen for plane tickets. Please try to find an economy fare ticket, and If not possible, go ahead with the ticket you found.

Bear in mind that the ticket should not cost more than 1200 euros.

For the future, we remind all members to book the tickets as early as possible, normally when the first draft agenda is sent.

Thanks for using the forum and kind regards,

Francis

Dear Francisco,

sorry for contacting you so late, but I have a discovered a critical issue.

I thought that as our MC member (Dora Horvath) will not go to Ljubljana and as substitute I was dedicated to go instead of her, I will be reimbursed for hotel and travel. But now (and really sorry for the late checking of the link) I realized that in the invitation for the meeting it is stated thet I am not eligible for any reimbursment.
If this is the case than I will not be able to attend the meeting and I will quickly cancel my hotel booking and meeting participation.

Really sorry for this confusion, I have just thought that the same rules will apply as in my previous COST experiences, that if the MC member is not going than the substitute can be reimbursed.

Thank you very much in advance for the quick clarificaition about my situation.

kind regards,

Nora Nyiro

Hi Nora,

Normally we enable MC substitutes to be eligible for reimbursement after the MC member declines the invitation.

For future meetings do not worry about what the official invitation says if you have already contacted me explaining that one substitute will attend instead of the MC member. I

You must have received an e-mail notifying your eligibility.

I am sorry for the inconveniences and I hope this will not cause any further problem.

Best regards,
